散髪 haircuts

The phone rang again today. It was the school. This is the 3rd time the phone has rung since the start of the new term (1month!). The first time was when the girls in the Early Childhood class had decided to resort to fisty cuffs to resolve a toy dispute. The teacher refused to name names, but M got a stern talking to just in case. The 2nd time was to tell me that a classmate had bitten Mairi's finger in a fight over a toy. It turned out that the kid hadn't actually maliciously bitten M's finger. Rather she had been going for the fake sushi that M just happened to be holding at the time she fancied a wee fake snack (!) I was so relieved that she had been bitten, and not done the biting! Poor M! (Brings to mind the scene in the Sound of Music: "Fraulein Maria, my finger got caught." "In what?" "Friedrich's teeth!")
So when the phone rang today, I thought, "What now????" The 3 girls again, had been doing something crafty with paper and scissors, and the teacher went to check on the other group. When she returned a couple of minutes later, she was greeted by big smiles : "Sensei, are we pretty??". They had decided to give themselves haircuts. Mairi apparently has the most promising future as a hairdresser. Hers was quite straight, with just a couple of chunks out of her fringe. The other 2 came off worse. Y, of the ballet, not noticably, but large chunks missing. But N, who had beautiful long locks, now has a sporty shoulder length do.
While relieved that Mairi's best feature was relatively unscathed, I must admit to being a bit disappointed that it wasn't even worth a photo!
Thank goodness the school photographer came the day before!
It's only October! What have they got in store for us next?!

今日は電話がなった。新しい学年が始まってから３回目です。１ヶ月しかたっていない。１回目：Mのクラスの女の子３人が取り合いでお互いに手を出した事件です。先生は誰が悪いかを言ってくれないけど、とりあえずMとまじめな話をした。２回目：Mの指は友達にかまれた事件。結局友達は指じゃなくて、その指が持っていたおもちゃのお寿司を食べようとしたらしい。だからちょっと安心した。主な気持ちは、噛まれた方でよかった！自分の子が人を噛んだ方がつらいよね。でも噛まれた茉利はこんな母でかわいそうかもね。
だから今日電話がかかってきた時、「今度は何？？？？」という気持ちだった。
今日女の子３人が工作中でハサミを使っていた。それで先生が別のグループのことをみに行っている間、３人が散髪屋ごっこをすることにしたらしい。先生が帰ってきたら、３人がすごい笑顔で「先生！私たちって可愛い？？？」と聞いたらしい。茉利が一番美容師にむいているみたい。前髪を結構まっすぐに切った。ほかに見えないところで２カ所だけを切った。Yちゃんは結構切ったけど結んだら分からない程度です。Nちゃんが一番の被害者みたい。自慢の長い髪が肩までとなっているみたい。皆が２度ともしないように約束してくれた。
茉利の可愛い髪があまり変になっていないからもちろん安心したけど、せかっく自分でやるなら、面白い写真が撮れる程度でやってもらわないと、とちょっとガックリした！
学校の写真が前の日に撮られてよかった！
まだ１０月よ！次は何をおこすでしょうか？？！
