2o Years On and Still Mad! ２０年経っても変！

Today we went to Daddy's old high school for his reunion. It's been 20 years since he and his friends graduated, and they still get together!

今日はDaddyの高校の同窓会のために昔の学校に行ってきました。卒業してから今年２０年だって！


One of them even turned up in his school uniform. He was just boasting he could still get into it.
一人は実際に着ていた制服を着てきたんだ！まだ着れるからすごいですね！

First we had a barbecue.
最初はバーベキューでした。

They put the barbecued fins of blowfish into their sake, apparently!
このふぐのひれを焼いて、お酒に入れるんだって。


I played with Daddy's friends' kids. At New Year kids traditionally fly kites and do a kind of badminton, so we did that!
Daddyの友達の子供と一緒に遊んだ。凧上げ、ハゴイタなどで遊んだ。


And other things.
そして他の遊びもあった。


Then we all went into the school to take a class by one of Daddy's old teachers. Maths!
そして教室に入って、昔の先生の数学の授業を受けた。


I didn't have a clue what he was on about, but they seemed to enjoy it.
何の話かさっぱり分からなかったけど、お父さんたちは面白そうだった。



Then they started playing this weird music, and they all started taking their clothes off!
そして音楽がなり出して、皆がいきなり服を脱ぎ始めた！

Daddy said they had to do these exercises every day when they were at school, with no tops on!
中学校から毎日どんな天気でも、上半身裸になって、お外に出てこの体操をしなければならなかったって！



What fine figures of men!?
皆いい体をしているね！？


Thank goodness I'm a girl so I don't have to go to such a weird school!
女の子で生まれてよかった！こんな変わった学校に行くのが大変そう！

Hello 2008

Happy New Year!!!　あけましておめでとうございます！


２００７年の最後の日はいろいろしてすごしました。じいちゃんとばあちゃんと一緒においしい食事をして、道が凍る前にうちに帰れました。

So New Year's Eve was spent out in a lovely restaurant with Ji-chan and Ba-chan, and we managed to get back home just before the roads froze over.

This left plenty time to enjoy a hot bath, a cuddle with the cat.....
早めに帰って、お風呂に入ったり、猫をだっこしたりする暇が十分ありました。

And watch the traditional Red and White Song Contest before midnight, and "Happy New Year!"　(I didn't quite last that long this year though....)

そしてもちろん紅白を見ながら、１２時の「あけましておめでとうございます」をまっていました。ちょっと１２時まで持たなかったけど。。。。


The next morning Ba-chan prepared a traditional New Year breakfast.
おばあちゃんがお正月の朝食を用意してくれました。

Complete with Osechi dishes.
おせちももちろん。

We all had our names on our special New Year chopsticks - I wrote my own!
それぞれのお箸にお名前が書かれました。私は自分のを自分で書きました！


My favourite bit is the lovely gooooooooey mochi in the ozoni soup!
一番おいしいのはお餅！

Then we braved the frozen mountainside and headed back to Hiroshima.
Happy New Year everyone!

そして昼頃そとの雪と寒さに出て、頑張って広島に帰りました。２００８年はすばらしい一年になりますように！今年もよろしくね！

Goodbye 2007

A hot Japanese breakfast on the last day of the year to get ready for a cold day.
寒い日の準備に暖かい和食の朝食がぴったりでしょう。

And it really was a cold day to end the year.

今年の最後の日は本当に寒かったし。


Mimika-chan got a new white fluffy coat to match her new carrot nose.

ミミカちゃんに新しい人参の鼻もふわふわの白いコートが着た。


But we had to go out and play in it again of course.

でももちろんまたお外に出て、遊ばなくちゃいけなかったね。


This time it was snowball fights...

今度は雪合戦。


そしてもちろんまたそり遊び！

And of course more sledging!


All finished off by a lovely meal at our favourite restaurant!
最後に好きなレストランでの食事会！

I hope we 'll be as lucky in 2008 as we were this year!
２００８年も今年と同じぐらい恵まれる年になるといいですね！

Oh What Fun it is to Ride.....

December 30th- pm

After a tasty lunch in a new restaurant,
新しいところでおいしいランチを食べてから、

Ba-chan and Ji-chan and Shi-chan the cat arrived.
ばあちゃんとじいちゃんと猫のシーちゃんが着いた。

Then we all headed out for more snow fun! And Ji-chan's new camera took this:
そしてもう一度雪で遊びに出た。じいちゃんの新しいカメラでこの映像を撮りました。

I had great fun! 楽しかった！

First Real Snow Fun

December 30th - am

Well, we left home on December 29th to spend New Year with Ji-chan and Ba-chan in Yufuin, and finally my wish came true when I woke up the first morning there and looked out of the window.
２９日に家を出て、おじいちゃんとおばあちゃんとお正月を過ごすために湯布院に向かって出発しました。次の朝、窓からみたら、やっと願いがかなえたことが分かった！

This is the sight that met our eyes.
このシーンが見えた。

I was so excited as I've always managed to miss real snow every year.
初めて本格的な雪をみたから、かなり興奮した。

But this was definitely real snow. And we made the most of it!
せっかくだから、精一杯遊んだよ。

Meet Mimika-chan, our snow girl.
雪だるまのミミカちゃんを紹介します！

Luckily Mummy bought this red sledge to match my red coat the day before we left, just in case.
So I did my first sledging.
Mummyが行く前の日に念のために赤いジャケットとお揃いのソリを買ってきていたから、初めて乗れた。

And made my first snow angel!
そして初めての「雪天使」も作ってみた。

You can just about make it out.
形が見えるかな？

And stuck out my tongue to taste the snow for the first time!
そして初めて降っている雪を味見してみた！

おいしかった！Tasty!
